How to create an OnlyFans account as a creator follows a fixed order. You register as a fan with an email address and a password, then complete the creator onboarding from your profile, which asks for your country, your payout details and an identity check. Once OnlyFans approves you, you set a price and finish your profile, then check a few security settings before the first post.
In short
- Every creator starts with a fan account and adds the creator onboarding on top.
- You must be 18 or older and live in a country where OnlyFans supports payouts. An earlier account that broke the Terms of Service also blocks you.
- The creator onboarding needs your bank or payout details plus an ID check. The documents have their own guide.
- Before the first post, switch on two-step authentication and watermarks, then decide whether to hide your profile from certain regions.
This article covers the sign-up mechanics. Positioning and a first-month plan sit in our guide on how to start OnlyFans. Whether to do it at all is a separate question with its own article.
What you need before the OnlyFans sign up
Before you look at how to create an OnlyFans account in detail, have three things ready: proof that you are an adult, a bank account or payout method in your own name, and an email address you will keep for this business. Everything else happens during the process.
The OnlyFans Terms of Service separate the requirements for a fan account from the additional ones for a creator account. The table lists both, as the Terms state them.
| Fan account | Creator account (in addition) | |
|---|---|---|
| Age | At least 18 | At least 18 |
| Login | Valid email address, username, password (or an approved third-party login) | Same login as the fan account |
| Identity | Age or identity information, depending on where you live | A valid form of ID and two photos of you |
| Money | A payment method if you pay for content | A bank account or payment method, plus a chosen payout option |
| Tax | - | UK VAT number if you are VAT-registered in the UK; other details depending on your country |
| Profile | - | A monthly subscription price (or none) and content for subscribers |
| Ongoing | Additional information on request | Further age or identity checks whenever OnlyFans asks |
The person on the ID has to be the person in the photos and the owner of the bank account. OnlyFans may reject an application for any reason, so a complete, consistent application is the part you control.
How to create an OnlyFans account, step by step
The sequence never changes. The fan account comes first and the creator onboarding second; profile and settings follow after approval. OnlyFans' help article on opening a Creator account states it directly: you register as a fan, then complete the additional creator onboarding.
- Register a fan account on onlyfans.com with your email address and a password.
- Confirm your email address and log in.
- Open the creator onboarding from your profile and select your country of residence.
- Enter your personal details exactly as they appear on your ID, then add your bank or payout details.
- Upload your ID and the photos OnlyFans asks for, then wait for the approval email.
- Once approved, set your subscription price and complete your profile.
- Check your security settings and add your first content before you share the link anywhere.
The waiting time for approval is the part you cannot plan precisely, so anyone asking how to create an OnlyFans account in time for a fixed launch date should start a few days early.
Steps 1-2: Open the fan account
A fan account needs a valid email address, a username and a password, or a login through an approved third party.
Choose the email address carefully, because it becomes the login of your future business. A new address used only for this account keeps OnlyFans mail out of your personal inbox and separates your everyday contacts from your creator identity. Our guide to an anonymous OnlyFans account covers the other privacy layers.
Fans see your username in your profile link, so search it first and check that nobody already uses it on the platforms where you plan to promote.
Step 3: Check your country and start the creator onboarding
OnlyFans is not available for creators in every country, and you find out inside your account. According to the OnlyFans Help Center, the list of countries where a creator account can be opened appears in the bank section of your profile once you have a fan account, and OnlyFans updates it regularly.
From there, the creator onboarding starts. OnlyFans' Creator Center describes the sequence: select your country of residence, fill in the form with the details exactly as they appear on your official ID, driver's licence or passport, then upload the photos of your ID. The Creator Center also asks for a mailing address and your social media handles, plus a W-9 form for creators in the US. A mismatch between the form and the document is an avoidable reason for delay, so copy the spelling of your name and your date of birth from the ID itself.
The ID upload and the wait for approval (step 5) are their own topic, from the documents to the selfie checks. We go through it in our guide to OnlyFans verification.
OnlyFans also names three reasons why someone cannot open an OnlyFans creator account at all. You cannot if you are under 18 or live in a country where OnlyFans cannot support payments. An earlier account that broke the Terms of Service blocks you as well.
Step 4: Add your bank details and choose how you get paid
Your bank or payout details are part of the creator application, not something you add later. The Terms require a bank account or payment method and a chosen payout option before the account is complete.
The payout methods on offer depend on where you live. The table summarizes what the OnlyFans help pages state about money moving from fans to you.
| Item | What OnlyFans states |
|---|---|
| Your share | 80% of every fan payment (subscriptions, paid messages, tips); OnlyFans keeps 20% |
| Pending period | Earnings stay pending for 7 days, then move to your current balance |
| Exception | Creators in a small number of countries with many reversed transactions have a 21-day pending period, which switches to 7 days four months after their first earnings |
| Minimum withdrawal | Depends on the payout method; $20 for most methods |
| Manual payouts | A "Request withdrawal" option, where your payout method allows it |
| Automatic payouts | Monthly, weekly or daily (where available), once the balance is above the minimum |
| Time to arrive | Paid within 3-5 business days of the request, in some cases up to 10 business days |
| Refunds and chargebacks | Shown as an adjustment on your statements page |
The pending balance rules matter for planning, because money earned this week cannot be withdrawn this week. Budget your first month with that delay in mind.
Keep the payout details in your own name. Whoever controls the payout method controls the money.
Step 6: Set up your profile and your price
The last part of how to create an OnlyFans account is the page itself, which is what a visitor sees before deciding to subscribe. You need a profile picture and a display name, plus a short description of what subscribers get. OnlyFans changes its interface from time to time; you find these fields in your profile and account settings.
The price is the decision with the most consequences. The Terms ask you to set a monthly subscription price, if any, so a free page is a valid choice. OnlyFans' help pages state the limits:
| Option | Limit stated by OnlyFans |
|---|---|
| Paid subscription | $4.99 to $50 per month |
| Free account | $0, with income from pay-per-view posts and messages |
| Subscription bundles | Fans buy 2 or more months at once; maximum bundle price $250 |
| Free trial | Limited time and a set number of trials, only for fans who have not subscribed to your profile and are not on auto-renew |
Which price makes sense depends on your audience and on how you plan to sell through messages, and our OnlyFans pricing guide works through that decision with examples.
The Terms also expect content for subscribers to view, and an empty page gives the first visitor no reason to pay. Upload a first set of posts before you share the link.
Step 7: The OnlyFans account setup settings worth checking first
Check three settings before the first post: two-step authentication, watermarks and profile hiding by region. Each takes minutes, and each is harder to fix once the account has an audience.
| Setting | What it does | Where OnlyFans puts it |
|---|---|---|
| Two-step authentication | Asks for a code from an authenticator app, or an SMS to your registered phone number, at login | Account settings |
| Watermarks | Adds custom text to your media, which makes copying harder | Privacy and safety settings, "Watermarks" |
| Hide profile | Hides your profile from chosen IP addresses, from countries, or from individual states and provinces in the US, Australia or Canada | Privacy and safety settings, "Safety" section |
Two-step authentication protects everything else. Without it, a leaked password is enough to take over the account, payout details included.
Profile hiding is the privacy setting creators ask about most. The help article Can I hide my profile? confirms the options in the table. It hides your OnlyFans profile from visitors in those regions. It does not hide your promotion accounts, so treat it as one layer among several.
Mistakes that slow down a new OnlyFans creator account
Most delays at sign-up come from inconsistent details. These cost new creators the most time:
- Typing a name or date of birth that differs from the ID, even by one letter or a missing middle name.
- Using an email address you might lose access to, or one shared with a partner or a manager.
- Letting someone else register the account or enter the bank details for you. The Terms say OnlyFans' relationship is with you, and you stay legally responsible for the account even when someone helps you run it.
- Buying a ready-made "verified" account. OnlyFans states that your account belongs to you, and a purchased one was verified for someone else.
- Keeping your other social media accounts private. OnlyFans lists this among the common reasons for a rejected application.
- Publishing before two-step authentication is on, or before you decided which regions to hide from.
- Planning more pages than allowed. A maximum of three creator accounts can be linked to one creator profile.
If an application is rejected, read the reason OnlyFans gives before you try again. The verification guide linked above covers what to check. Knowing how to create an OnlyFans account correctly the first time saves you that second round.
How MAXMO handles account setup
Our focus at MAXMO Management is creators whose page already runs; in individual cases we also support the start and the verification phase. If you wonder how to create an OnlyFans account, we guide you through the steps. You register and verify yourself with your own ID, as OnlyFans requires. The account belongs to the creator from the first day. Verification and payout details stay in her name during the whole collaboration.
When a creator starts working with us, she grants access herself, in the way she chooses. Her profile email stays with her, as do her two-step authentication and her payout details, and we sign a confidentiality agreement with every creator together with the contract. Everything she shares with us is treated confidentially from the first conversation. She has one fixed contact who knows her account. Every collaboration starts with a trial phase that either side can end with three days' notice.
Our part starts after the setup. Our services page describes the five areas we cover, and you can see what changed for three of our creators.
Short answers to common questions are on our homepage. If your page is live, or you are about to start and want support, tell us where you stand and we reply within 48 hours.
